True, agree, a combination of both is always the perfect balance

1) First and foremost, people should understand their bodies. We all are made in a different way with different metabolic systems. Some people can put all the cream and cheese in the world in their bodies and not show an inch of weight gain, even without any exercise! Whereas some people just need to look at a doughnut and gain one pound!
So, the first step is always to understand our own bodies, its metabolism rate, its way of functioning, its unique digestive system!
2) Second step would be to zero down upon a diet plus fitness regime to maintain a healthy body.
Some people get great results with Aerobics while some feel more relaxed and lighter after performing Yoga.
The Rule is NEVER PUNISH YOUR BODY, never force it to do something which it doesn't like, whether its fasting or swimming or hitting the gym!
Experiment with different exercise and diet regimes till you have zeroed down on the most comfortable one and just stick to that
3) Love your body and accept it. Every guy cannot be Sylvester Stallone and every girl cannot be Angelina Jolie. Constant comparisons with such celebrities makes matters worse. Learn that different people have different bodies-lean, muscular, thin, round and so on..and love the way your body is
